Our Top Tips

Avoid drying underwear and socks outdoors in late August and September when it is ‘chiggers’ season. These little red or orange bugs, (also known as harvest mites and ‘aoûtats’ in France), like moisture. So they tend to concentrate in hidden areas like waistbands, and even in socks and underwear drying outdoors. On dogs, they collect between toes or behind ears and although they’re practically invisible, they can cause severe itching in humans and dogs.

Mix Belle Fleur cream or spray with your favourite high factor sunscreen lotion for dual protection against the strong rays of the sun and biting insects. Choose a sunscreen that protects against UVA and UVB rays with an SPF of 15 or higher. Apply about 15 to 30 minutes before going outside, then reapply every two hours.

Use the cream as a soothing after sun lotion – the mint and lavender have a lovely cooling effect. If you forget to use the cream or spray and the bugs get you, also use it as an ‘after bite’ cream to help reduce the swelling and itching.

Additional Information

Free from harmful chemicals, use products regularly for the best protection, and reapply after swimming or towelling. Avoid contact with eyes. If product does get into the eyes rinse straight away with cold water.
